Terako Downs is set on 6ha of farmland in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Wandle River, birdsong, vistas of native bush and impressive sunsets provide the perfect backdrop for your stay.
Campsite
We have space for campervans and cars, and we are pleased to announce that we now offer tent sites too.
Facilities
The campsite offers a common area with barbeque, cooking and toilet facilites.
Fantastic Star Gazing
North Canterbury has some amazing night skies, here at Terako whether it's a cold crispy winters night, or a balmy summers evening, the night sky is something not to be missed.
Pet Friendly
We welcome all pets, just let us know prior to arrival.
Waiau
The township of Waiau was the first of the three main settlements established in the area previously known as the Amuri Ward. Trout fishing or swimming in the river, Historical Trail, walking tracks and cycle routes are just a few things the town has to offer just a short distance from the campsite.
Local Ski Area
Just 5 minutes up the road is Mt Lyford Ski fields catering for beginners through to advanced. Bookings essential, although we are open through winter, limited spaces available.
Marquee Hire
Terako is also available for private events, including small weddings, family reunions, birthday parties and marquee hire.
